DBT Strings is a Max for Live string machine for Ableton Live 11 and 12: the essential machine for your pads, with a bass section of its own.
What we chased
I like having an instrument that lets me make pads with lots of different colors, to create tension in my dubs. The string machine is always the instrument made for that. I wanted my own device inside Ableton, simple to use.
The controls
196 PRESETS. In 20 families, all selected with care, so you can quickly find the right sound for your track. Arrows next to the name, or click it for the list.
REGISTERS. Eight voices: contra bass and cello below, viola, violin, trumpet, horn, humana and ensemble above.
ENSEMBLE. The chorus effect section: chorus, vibrato and spread give the sound that extra width and depth.
BASS SECTION. Settings for the low voices, with their own tone, sustain and volume.
FADERS. Volume and envelope faders, to mix the voices with each other.
INSIDE. Click the logo to open the advanced settings: LFO, velocity, resonator, warmth and hiss.
EFFECTS. A dual phaser, an analog or digital delay with ping pong, and a reverb.
What's inside
Looks. Click the screw, top left, to switch between Ableton and the wooden machine.
