DBT Preamp

DBT Preamp is an Ableton rack that emulates the sound of a classic hardware microphone preamp. Drop it on any track to add instant color, weight, and character, the same way a real console preamp shapes a signal before it ever hits the mix.

Four macros, each one a real preamp behavior. Push it gently for a subtle boost, or drive it hard for full analog grit.

The 4 macros

DRIVE. The core of the sound. Push it up and your signal gets thicker, denser and more alive, exactly like driving a real preamp harder.

LOAD. Recreates the effect of impedance loading on a microphone. Turn it up for a fuller low end with the classic bump and dip curve found on high end hardware preamps.

LOCUT. A clean high pass filter to clear out unwanted rumble and low end mud before it ever reaches the saturation stage.

OUTPUT. Final volume trim.

What it's for

Instant preamp character on vocals, bass, drums, guitars, or anything that needs a touch of analog weight. From barely there warmth to a fully driven, saturated tone, all from one rack.
