DBT Mixer Channel
DBT Mixer Channel
DBT Mixer Channel is an Ableton rack that emulates a classic analog console channel strip. Drop it on any track, bus, or master to instantly dress up your sound with the color, glue, and character of real analog hardware.
It combines everything a vintage channel strip does: subtle harmonic saturation (THD), a musical compressor, sweepable filters, and a three band EQ built around the same trick used on the legendary Pultec EQP1A: boosting and cutting the same zone at once to add weight without mud.
Drive and tone
INPUT. Sets how hard the signal hits the channel, just like pushing the gain on a real console preamp.
DRIVE. Adds harmonic saturation and a touch of tube warmth. Subtle at low settings for gentle glue, thick and driven when pushed.
Filters
HPF. High pass filter. Clears out unwanted low end rumble below your instrument.
LPF. Low pass filter. Rolls off the very top for a darker, more contained tone.
The Pultec style EQ
LOW BOOST and LOW ATTEN. Boost the low end and carve a complementary dip just above it at the same time, the classic Pultec move that adds weight without turning muddy.
MID FREQ, MID GAIN, MID Q. A fully sweepable mid band to carve out boxiness or add presence exactly where your instrument needs it.
HIGH BOOST and HIGH ATTEN. Add air on top while taming harshness just below it, for a bright top end that never turns brittle.
Compression
COMP. Threshold control for the built in bus style compressor. Glues everything together, from a light touch to a noticeably pumping effect.
RATIO. Sets how hard the compressor grabs once it kicks in, from gentle to aggressive.
Output
OUTPUT. Final volume trim, with a hint of console crosstalk and hiss baked in at every setting, just like a real channel that's always alive.
