DBT Toy Kit

DBT Toy Kit, free. This device is an emulation of the Mattel Synsonics Drums, an analog toy drum machine from 1981. It has four pads that you play with your fingers or with MIDI, a small pattern memory and a control that tunes the whole kit. It has the sound of a cheap toy, with a lot of noise and character, and it is free because every producer should have one.

What we chased

We wanted a very basic toy drum machine that is cheap, noisy and full of character.

The controls

FOUR PADS
Toy Kit is a very basic drum kit with four pads that play the sounds of the kit.

PRESETS
Ready made presets give you a starting point to explore new sounds.

ACCENT
The ACCENT button makes a hit harder.

RANDOM
The RANDOM button loads a preset chosen at random.

TWO LOOKS
You can change the look by clicking the screw on the top left. The default look follows your Ableton theme, and the other is the toy face.

Good to know

This device works with Ableton Live 11 and 12, and it needs Max for Live.
