DBT Perc Synth, 10 €. This device is an emulation of the Boss PC-2, a percussion synthesizer from the early eighties. It has one analog voice with an oscillator, a pitch sweep, an LFO and a decay. You play it on a big pad or with your keys, the velocity opens the sound, and it makes sirens, toms and zaps.
What we chased
We wanted a classic machine that you find in many studios and that equipped many sound systems. It makes sirens, toms and lasers.
The controls
PAD
You can hit the big pad, or play it from your keys, to trigger the sound. The SENS knob sets how much your velocity opens the sound.
DECAY
The DECAY knob sets the length of the hit, from a very short blip to a long, ringing tom.
PITCH
The PITCH knob sets the base frequency of the voice.
SWEEP
The SWEEP knob sets the pitch drop at the start of each hit, and OFF gives a steady tone.
LFO
The LFO section sets the rate and the depth of a triangle or square wave, which wobbles the pitch.
PRESETS
Ready made presets give you a starting point to explore new sounds.
TWO LOOKS
You can change the look by clicking the screw on the top left. The default look follows your Ableton theme, and the other is the machine face.
Good to know
This device works with Ableton Live 11 and 12, and it needs Max for Live.
